There are loads of reasons why testosterone is important. Your T-Levels (Testosterone Levels) start going downhill at 30. Recent research has shown that men born more recently over the century have increasingly decreased levels of testosterone. That means that a man born in 1915 at the age of 60 versus a man born in 1940 at the age of 60 has higher levels of T. Here are some great ways to up your levels as you age and avoid the chemicals and substances that lower libido and your life expectancy!
DO
Uncover those Abs- As your belly gets bigger your testosterone levels shoot down. So look up the Detoxifying Diet on thehealthword and start slimming your wasteline.
Squat to successful levels of Testosterone- By working out the biggest muscles in your body (like your legs) you stimulate higher release of the Big T.
Get FAT- No that doesn't mean you can join the other lunch time loungers in the Drive Thru line. Get fit with GOOD FATS like those found in Fish and Nuts. Take a Krill oil supplement to boost it even further and help your body with all it's profound benefits. (Read Krill Oil Craze)
Nuts- You all know I'm nuts about nuts and for good reason. Among their other many beneficial nutrients and minerals nuts help boost Testosterone levels. I like almonds because they pack the biggest T-Boosting bang for your buck.
STOP STRESS!- Mental and Physical Stress can drastically reduce your T-Levels by releasing an inhibitory hormone called Cortisol which suppressed Testosterone production. There are so many quick and easy ways to tone down stress like Chiropractic, Massage Therapy, Quick Sprints and Meditation. Watch for my Quick STRESS Busters Article which I will be posting shortly.
Go Easy at the Bar- Too much of the "sauce" can lead to decline in T-Levels. Limit your drinking to one or two glasses of beer or wine per night.
Go Organic- Pesticides build up in your system over time and work to put loads of pressure on the cell in your body. They can mean the depletion of Testosterone among loads of other harmful effects. Think about growing your own garden or supporting a local cooperative. I like Spud Organic Home Delivery (www.spud.com) check out your community organic providers to find a convenient and economical organic solution. It is a myth that organic is costly. I say cancer and heart disease is costly!
DON'T
Drink from from plastic bottles- They contain dioxins and phalates that lower T-Levels. That means changing out your kids plastic baby bottles for glass. Read my article on plastics.
Use old lawn treatments- Older lawn treatments (Before 2002) contain chlorpyrifos a chemical that shoots down your T.
Drink your Tap Water- Unless you have it checked with your local municipality for PCB Contamination.
Get up and out of seat and try a new T-Booster every day and pretty soon you'll be driven to do more. You'll at least have all the testosterone you need to take your health and life to the next level.
Yours in health and motivation,
Dr.M
